Asia Society Announces Agenda for 2016 Diversity Leadership Forum, Finalists for Best APA Employer Awards

NEW YORK, May 3, 2016 — Asia Society today announced the agenda for the 8th annual Diversity Leadership Forum, a two-day conference on best practices in global diversity and leadership.

This year’s forum, which will take place in New York, June 9-10, is centered on the theme of “Powering Asian Talent: Leveraging Intersections to Drive Marketplace Solutions.” Program highlights include a keynote address on diversity as a business proposition by Jeff Yang, columnist and SVP for The Futures Company, and sessions with Tracy Doi, CFO of Toyota Motor Sales, USA; Royanne Doi, Chief Ethics Officer, Prudential; and S. Shariq Yosufzai, Vice President, Global Diversity, Chevron.

Asia Society also named the sixteen finalists for the 2016 Best Asian Pacific American Employer Awards. Now in their seventh year, the Awards honor employers at the forefront of promoting and developing Asian Pacific American (APA) leaders.

The 2016 finalists are: AT&T, BNY Mellon, Chevron, Colgate-Palmolive, Credit Suisse, Discover, Freddie Mac, GE, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Ingersoll Rand, KPMG, Marriott International, Medtronic, Pacific Gas and Electric, and Reed Smith.

This year’s awards recognize best employers for APA talent across seven categories:

  • Overall Best Employer for Asian Pacific Americans
  • Best Employer for Asian Pacific Americans to Develop Workforce Skills
  • Best Employer for Promoting Asian Pacific Americans into Senior Leadership Positions
  • Best Employer for Promoting Asian Pacific American Women
  • Best Employer for Asian Pacific American Employee Resource Groups
  • Best Employer for Marketing & Support to Asian Pacific American Community
  • Best Employer for Sponsorship of Asian Pacific Americans

The top company in each category will be announced on June 9 at the opening of the forum. Finalists and winners are selected based on a blind panel evaluation of their APA programs as well as the results from Asia Society’s 2016 Asian Pacific Americans Corporate Survey. The survey report, which will also be released at the forum, measures how APAs perceive their employers and provides a snapshot of today’s APA workforce.
