Asia Society Photo Challenge Awarding Ceremony

MANILA - The Asia Society Philippine Foundation Inc. held the awarding ceremony for the Asia Society Photo Challenge last November 7, 2012 at the Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, EDSA. The finalists, guests and friends of Asia Society gathered for a night of festivities and cultural entertainment as various Asian countries were showcased through the Taichi Quan performances of the Confucius Institute of Ateneo de Manila and the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music Chorale.

The entries were judged according to its relevance to the theme (40%), visual impact (30%), composition/technical quality (15%) and originality (15%). The selected judge panel consisted of professional photographers with the likes of Mr. Neal Oshima – International Award winning photographer, Mr. Francisco “Paco” Guerrero – photographer and host of GMA TV’s “What I See” Show, Ms. Isa Lorenzo – photographer and founder of Silverlens Galleries and Mr. Jun Miranda –President of the Philippine Center for Creative Imaging and Canon EOS Brand Ambassador.

With the multitude of entries that were submitted, below are the winners of this year’s Asia Society Photo Challenge:

1st Place – “Carnelian Wonder” by Jose Miguel Santillan
2nd Place – “Taste of Asia” by Aldrin Cuadra
3rd Place – “Bayanihan” by Don Clavo de Comer

Receiving a total of 4482 votes, the People’s Choice Award was determined via online and ballot voting. The recipient of the People’s Choice Award went to Romado Javillonar for his “The Camaraderie and Masterpiece”.

10th Place – “Dragon of Gold” by Reynaldo Bonita
11th Place – “Dancers of Tradition” by Jose Miguel Santillan
12th Place – “Different Colors Under One Sun” by Jaypee David
13th Place – “Unity in Anonymity” by Michael Ibarra
14th Place – “Carving with Technology” by Jonathan de Vera
15th Place – “Asia a Festival of Culture” by Jan Carlo de Leon
16th Place – “Kung Hei Fat Choi” by Richmond Chi
17th Place – “East Meets West” by Katrina Navallo
18th Place – “Light” by Jan Carlo de Leon
19th Place –  “Mano Po, Manabo” by Orlando Guevarra
20th Place – “Colors by the Waters” by Adrian Samiro See
