Heritage Site Tours for Schools and NGOs

Take a guided tour of Asia Society Hong Kong Center, which is the Former Explosives Magazine Compound built by the British Army in the mid-nineteenth century. During the docent-led tour, the group will have the opportunity to explore and learn about the history of the site and its transformation by the renowned American architects, Tod Williams and Billie Tsien (TWBTA), into a leading arts and cultural institution in Hong Kong.

The group will discover the different features of the site, both natural and man-made, as well as the different measures employed to conserve and preserve the site’s historical significance, through its unique and distinctive architectural design.

For school visits, there is also a comprehensive worksheet available, which aims to help students to better understand the concept of heritage conservation in Hong Kong. This worksheet allows the students to further explore and discuss their findings in the classroom after the visit.

Tours take approximately 30 minutes, after which groups may explore the site by themselves.
