School Tours

We invite students and teachers in the Houston area to visit Asia Society Texas Center. School tours facilitated by Education Department staff provide educationally rich interactive opportunities for students to learn about Asian art, culture, and traditions.

These free tours are open to all public, private, charter, alternative, and home schools. Visits take place on weekday mornings, Tuesday through Friday, for one to three hours.

Education Department staff develop tours specific to each school’s requests and needs. They may include:

  • Docent-led tour of exhibitions in the Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery
  • “Introduction to Asia” PowerPoint Presentation highlighting essential information about Asian art, culture, geography, and politics
  • Guided tour of the Texas Center and discussion of its unique architecture
  • Art-making activities in the Edward Rudge Allen III Education Center

School tours are free of charge and limited to groups of 85 visitors or less, including chaperones. A chaperone to student ratio of 1 to 10 is requested.

Education Department staff and docents work together to develop materials and tours that fit Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and district curriculum standards.

Registration is required. For more information, please contact Paul Pass, Education Coordinator, at PPass@AsiaSociety.org or 713.496.9915.

School tours at Asia Society Texas Center are made possible by generous support from J.P. Morgan and Nancy C. Allen. Additional support for educational programs is provided by the Reliant Energy Charitable Foundation and by Asia Society contributors and members.
