The International Studies School at Garinger (ISSG) accepted its first 9th grade class during the 2006-2007 school year. Each year, thereafter, a new incoming freshman class will be invited until the total student population reaches 400 students in grades 9-12. By infusing international dimensions in all subject areas, this school is preparing students to be active learners, informed citizens, competitive workers, and thriving leaders in the global age of the 21st century. Students are required to earn four foreign language credits before graduating. Currently, Chinese and Spanish are offered. The International Studies School is a member of the Asia Society national network of small schools and is also supported by the New Schools Project.
School Highlights
ISSG has established a school culture founded on the belief that all
students can learn, especially when given access to high-quality
learning environments that stimulate intellectual, social and personal
growth. All students are prepared to work and live in the 21st century
global environment and college is a viable option for all ISSG
students. The school believes that teachers have the power to change
and motivate students and that students hold the power within to change
and motivate themselves!
School Voices
Smaller classrooms and an area full of people who truly want students
to succeed has allowed us to flourish not only as students but as
individuals as well. -Student
