The Global Schools Assessment is the best way for a school to benchmark where they are in supporting students' global competence. It is an assessment tool to help determine how global your school is and offer ways to strenthen practice. GSA is a two-part process: the first step is to have your entire school community fill in a perception questionnaire, with questions ranging from school mission and culture, to curriculum and instruction, how students learn, and more. A specialist then looks at the scores, deviations, and writes a lengthy interpretive report to include advice on how to make your school more globally focused.

Gather School Data

  • Pre-assessment activities allow the school to explore the meaning of global competence
  • Faculty members take the online assessment anonymously, expressing their perceptions of where their school is along a continuum of “beginning” to “exemplary” in six domains
  • A trained consultant will help throughout the process

Get Results

  • Results from the assessment provide an in-depth look at a school’s self-perception data
  • An extensive written and electronic report interprets the data and identifies key findings, possible next steps for each domain, as well as overall results
  • An optional site visit by a PGL consultant allows evidence to be gathered to support the online assessment

Plan for Action

  • Receive concrete suggestions for next steps including staff development, resources, school study tours and coaching
  • Plan for a comprehensive approach tailored to accelerate your school’s work in preparing globally competent and college-ready students
