Ming Hsieh immigrated to the U.S. from China and became a successful technology entrepreneur. He currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Fulgent Therapeutics, a cancer medication research-and-development company. Mr. Hsieh has distinguished himself has a benefactor of the arts and education, with transformative contributions to the University of Southern California to advance engineering and medical research. He graduated from USC and is a Trustee.
Ambassador Sung Kim is a native son of Los Angeles and the first Korean American to serve as the top U.S. diplomat in Seoul. He has done so with distinction amid persistent regional challenges.
Madame Sylvia Wu is a celebrated restauranteur, author and philanthropist. She opened her restaurant on Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica in 1959, and entertained Hollywood’s top celebrities & other dignitaries. She has authored four books.
Tamlyn Tomita made her screen debut as Kumiko in “The Karate Kid, Part II” with Ralph Macchio and Pat “Noriyuki” Morita and has since appeared in numerous feature films, television and theatre projects. She is best known for her movie roles in: 'The Joy Luck Club'; 'Picture Bride'; 'Come See the Paradise'; 'The Day After Tomorrow'; and 'Four Rooms'.
The evening will also include a special performance by pianist and violinist Ray Ushikubo.
