Celebrate the Year of the Snake

Asia Society rings in the Year of the Snake with performances and traditional craft activities inspired by Lunar New Year traditions across Asia. Don’t miss an auspicious Lion Dance, a Kung Fu demonstration and much more!

 

Schedule of Events:

Little Dragons with Shanghai Restoration Project

1:15-2:00 PM

Come celebrate Chinese New Year at the Asia Society in song! Producer Dave Liang from the electronic group The Shanghai Restoration Project and jazz singer Zhang Le host an interactive workshop teaching classic Chinese children's songs from their renowned release: Little Dragon Tales. Appropriate for kids and parents of all ages!

 

Bo Law Kung Fu

Lion Dance and Kung Fu demonstration

2:30-3:00 PM

New York Bo Law Kung-Fu martial arts school presents a traditional Lion Dance followed by an interactive Kung Fu demonstration.

 

Korean music and dance

3:15-4:00 PM

Songhee Lee of the Korean Performing Arts Center will present Korean dancing and hand drumming.

 

Ongoing Arts and Crafts activities on the 8th floor:

--Chinese shadow puppet demonstration and workshop with Chinese Theater Works

--Vietnamese Dong Ho folk painting with the Institute for Vietnamese Culture and Education

--Paperclay snake charm making with Syma

--Chinese papercutting--make your own Spring character!
