Diwali Lights Up Asia Society: Family Day

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights and New Year, is a time to celebrate good fortune, family and friendships. Celebrate with performances, and arts and crafts inspired by Diwali.

Schedule of activities:

1:00-1:45: Bhangra dancing with Gobind Singh (session 1)

2:00-2:45: Tabla and sitar music and workshop

3:00- 3:45: Bhangra dancing with Gobind Singh (session 2)

Ongoing activities:                                                                                                                            

--Make colorful and jingling bangles!

-- During Diwali, people light small clay lamps called diyas to symbolize the light of knowledge and goodness. Make your own Diya!

--Learn the myths behind the Hindu Deities with storytelling

--Temporary Tattoos!— Come and get elaborate henna tattoos on your hands, arms or even your feet!
