  • Viewing of Asia Society Texas Center's rental spaces is available by appointment only, Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Capacities indicated do not take into account additional setup requirements such as space for audio-visual equipment, buffet tables, bars, head tables, stages, or dance floors.
  • Some venue spaces are not available for rent during public hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of events can I host at Asia Society Texas Center?

Asia Society Texas Center is available for a wide variety of private and corporate events, but fundraising, religious, and political events are not permitted. Parties or events for minors under the age of 18 are also not permitted. All rentals must be private events, not open to the general public.

Events that conflict with the mission and focus of Asia Society Texas Center or that may disrupt the primary use of the Center as a public educational and cultural facility will not be permitted.

What is included with the rental?

Rentals include the facility usage for the contracted time, as well as available tables and chairs maintained by Asia Society Texas Center.

May I use my own caterer and supply my own beverages for my event?

No, all food and beverages must be provided by Asia Society Texas Center’s exclusive third-party caterer, SilverStone Events. They are also equipped to provide linens, chair covers, center pieces, etc. All alcoholic beverages must be provided by Capitol Beverage; SilverStone Events will make arrangements on your behalf.

Is rental liability insurance required?

Yes, liability insurance naming Asia Society Texas Center as the additional insured party is required for rental of the Texas Center. This is a common requirement for venue rentals. The parameters of the insurance policy will be outlined by our rental staff.

How do I reserve at date?

Once your event has been approved, an initial $500 refundable deposit is required to reserve a date at Asia Society Texas Center. This amount also functions as a security deposit and will be refunded within 30 days following the event, less the costs of any damage or clean-up, if applicable.

When can events be held at Asia Society Texas Center?

Events can be scheduled to take place Tuesdays through Sundays between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm with the exception of Fridays and Saturdays which may end at 11:00 pm. Events in public spaces can be scheduled from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm, only if they do not interfere with the normal flow and operation of our facility. Asia Society Texas Center is closed on Mondays.

What are the rental charges and what is included in that cost?

Rental costs will vary according to which rooms are being rented and depending on the length of time the event is scheduled. Our Facility Rental brochure provides a general price range for a rental of between 2 to 8 hours. Please contact the Director of Facility Rentals or the Facility Rental Manager for more information about special wedding packages. A Facilities Rental brochure is available upon request. Other additional costs not included in the rental fee are maintenance, security, and any audio-visual requirements. A $500 deposit is also requested in addition to the rental costs.

Where can my guests park?

Asia Society Texas Center’s parking lot is conveniently situated across the street from our facility, located at 1370 Southmore Boulevard. Our regular parking rates are $5.00 per car, but parking packages are available for rental clients. Street parking is available around the Texas Center, but please be advised that some side streets are metered and city parking regulations are strictly enforced. Asia Society Texas Center is not responsible for parking tickets received by guests while attending events.

What type of decorations can be utilized to dress up your facility for my event?

Decorations must be limited to floral arrangements, signage on easels, or freestanding displays. All decorations must be pre-approved in writing by the Rental staff.

In order to maintain the Texas Center’s beauty and character, signage cannot be glued, taped, tacked, stapled, nailed, or adhered to the walls, windows, floors, or ceilings in any fashion.

Decorations, equipment, and materials must be removed at the conclusion of your event. Damages caused by decorating, set-up, the event itself, or during breakdown will result in the loss of the security deposit plus any additional repair costs incurred.

Open flames such as candles and oil lamps are not permitted in the Texas Center.

Is smoking permitted at Asia Society Texas Center?

Smoking is not permitted inside of Asia Society Texas Center, but smoking is permitted in designated areas outside of the building. Cigarette butts not disposed of properly in cigarette containers will result in the loss of a portion of the security deposit.

Are there any restrictions on amplified music?

Sharing our location with numerous adjacent residential properties, Asia Society Texas Center strives to be a good neighbor. In accordance with the guidelines outlined in the Code of Ordinances for the City of Houston, Texas, events must maintain respectful noise levels and no amplified music may be played or broadcast outdoors after 10:00 pm.

Is the art gallery open during events to provide rental guests the opportunity to view the artwork?

Rental staff can make arrangements for the Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery to remain open beyond our regularly scheduled hours of operation (11:00 am - 6:00 pm). Security fees will apply.

Can I visit Asia Society Texas Center to see the various spaces available for rentals?

What are the maximum guest capacities for the various spaces that Asia Society Texas Center has available for rentals?

The attendance capacities depend on the both the type of event and the room set-up. For example the addition of a dance floor will decrease the number of attendees for a seated reception. However, flexible space utilization configurations can be considered. We highly recommend touring Asia Society Texas Center in order to determine your needs.
