by Anna Foret

HOUSTON, February 12, 2013 — Former Houston Rockets center and Asia Society Texas Center supporter Yao Ming stopped by the new Yoshio Taniguchi-designed building for his first visit to the site since the groundbreaking.

Following a tour, the former NBA superstar took the time to share his hopes for the Texas Center, his post-play pursuits, and his thoughts on basketball in China. From championing sports as a team building and educational tool in China to promoting wine making in California and supporting animal conservation in Africa, Yao’s post-retirement work has solidified his role as a global cultural ambassador.

Yao will be sharing more on his recent activities in conversation with ESPN analyst Jay Williams on February 15, 2013. Be sure to purchase your ticket to the luncheon for a remarkable afternoon with one of NBA’s most remarkable players. Only a few seats remain, so book now!
