ExxonMobil Executive Optimistic About the Future of Energy
HOUSTON, May 1, 2015— William (Bill) Colton, Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning for ExxonMobil, joined Asia Society on April 21 to present ExxonMobil’s Outlook for Energy: A View to 2040. According to Colton, the global improvement of living standards is driving the increased need for energy, with China leading half of the energy demand in the Asia Pacific. Colton noted that, “one in five people in the world still have no access to electricity… but economic growth in Asia will enable some 3 billion people to rise into the ranks of middle class.” Due to human innovation, the energy supply is optimistic, and on the current growth trajectory, there is enough supply for “at least the next 100 years.”
