Reviving Japan's Dynamism through Abenomics
VIEW EVENT DETAILSwith Representative and Former Defense Minister Yuriko Koike
Despite its impressive economic rise in the half-century following WWII, Japan’s economic growth lags sorely behind much of the world as stagnation continues to haunt the islands. Japan faces many issues including a declining population, contraction of its economy by deflation, and turbulent international relations. Prime Minister Abe introduced a set of bold economic reforms to address these issues in 2012. Have they achieved their goals? Special guest Yuriko Koike joins Asia Society to discuss the three arrows of “Abenomics”, their success, and what new goals and strategies should be used to overcome challenges and usher in a new era of economic dynamism.
