Nuclear North Korea: A Reassessment with Former Foreign Minister Han Sung-Joo
VIEW EVENT DETAILSIn Collaboration with the University of Houston Center for International and Comparative Studies
October 9, 2016, marks the ten year anniversary of North Korea’s first nuclear test. Despite dynamic changes in East Asia over the last ten years, a nuclear armed North Korea has been a constant factor complicating the regional order. In 1994, a nuclear North Korea seemed to be an unlikely prospect. So, what went wrong; how has a nuclear North Korea altered the regional order; and what strategies should the U.S. and its allies adopt to address the world’s newest nuclear power? Join Asia Society for a special discussion with Dr. Han Sung-Joo, former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea, and gain an insider’s perspective as he explores these critical questions.
Nuclear North Korea is in collaboration with the University of Houston Center for International and Comparative Studies. Asia Society is proud to be a presenting partner. Please note that this program will take place at the University of Houston, Student Center South, Space City Room (#214).
