Comprised of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the goal of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is to promote regional stability, cooperation, and trade. ASEAN is the United States’ fourth largest export market and fifth largest trading partner. It hosts the largest amount of U.S. foreign direct investment in Asia, more than three times as much as China and ten times as much as India. Its influence is hard to overstate.
Asia Society Texas Center is honored to host six ASEAN ambassadors for a luncheon conversation about new opportunities in this important market, their perspectives on 35 years of partnership between ASEAN and the United States, and their critical role in advancing the common interests of all stakeholders in the region.
