Citywide Celebration

With its Grand Opening April 12 – 15, Asia Society Texas Center has joined a vibrant Houston cultural scene distinguished by internationally recognized museums, performing arts organizations, and education centers. To commemorate this moment Asia Society has invited Houston arts institutions to join it in celebrating the opening of the Texas Center and the cultural achievements of Asia. Unrivaled Splendor: The Kimiko and John Powers Collection of Japanese Art
June 10 – September 23, 2012

Unrivaled Splendor: The Kimiko and John Powers Collection of Japanese Art, an exhibition of 85 works of Japanese art highlighting the Powers Collection’s strengths in Buddhist paintings, sculptures, calligraphy and prints, opens in June. The Powers Collection is regarded as one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Japanese art in the United States.

Ongoing exhibitions continue in MFAH’s Arts of Korea Gallery, Arts of Japan Gallery, Nidhika and Pershant Mehta Arts of India Gallery, and Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Arts of China Gallery.
