Regions

During the past several years, Asia Society has organized policy dialogues and study groups focused on pressing issues for particular countries or areas in Asia. As the foundation for ASPI’s ongoing work, these efforts are distinguished by the participation of policymakers and experts who are based in the countries in question, resulting in pragmatic solutions that are well-received on the ground.

  • ASPI organizes public programs and policy reports, along with expert commentary designed to increase understanding of the crucial India-U.S. relationship and India’s role in the South Asian region.
  • ASPI has organized study groups to assess South Asia’s political, economic, and social challenges and to develop policy recommendations for shifting the region toward peace and stability.
  • ASPI works closely with Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations to expand cooperation among China, the United States, and Asian countries on a range of international issues.
  • Following ASPI's project examining the crisis of governance in Central Asia, Asia Society has continued to provide a forum for dialogue about how the region can increase security, manage conflicts, and strengthen the rule of law.
  • Since 2009, ASPI’s Myanmar Initiative has sought to strengthen relations between Myanmar and other countries and to support Myanmar’s transition to democracy.
  • ASPI’s Iran work focuses on sharing insights on the relationship between the two countries through public events and expert commentary.
