New Discoveries on 14th Century Blue-and-White Ware

Asia Society Philippines, together with Oriental Ceramic Society of the Philippines and Ayala Museum present "New Discoveries on 14th Century Blue-and-White Ware", a lecture to be held on November 22, 2014, 3-5PM, at Ayala Museum.

May Huang, rising expert on Yuan blue-and-white, is coming to Manila to speak on recent important discoveries in Jingdezhen kiln sites. Ms. Huang is a lecturer at the School of Ceramic Art, Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, and has twice received the Institute’s award for Exemplary Teacher. In the past months she has shared her knowledge in well-attended talks in Paris, London, and Hong Kong.

May will be joined by Rita Tan and Larry Gotuaco, well-known figures in the local ceramics scene. Ms. Tan will give a brief introduction on 14th century or Yuan blue-and-white ware, putting it in context and explaining why this group of ware is getting so much attention from ceramic scholars. Meanwhile, Mr. Gotuaco will discuss Philippine finds in relation to the new discoveries.
