Asia 21 Young Leader Rommel Juan Heads E-Vehicle Summit
VIEW EVENT DETAILSThe Electric Vehicle Alliance, made up of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), Manila Electric Company and Partnership for Clean Air (PCA), is organizing the 5th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit. The theme for this year is “Investing in the EV Industry Towards a Sustainable Transport and Closer Regional Economic Integration.” The two-day summit will be held on April 14-15, 2016 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Meralco at Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City.
Asia Society’s Asia 21 Young Leader Rommel Juan is currently the President of EVAP. Asia 21 is an initiative that identifies dynamic and notable young leaders under the age of forty making significant social impact in various sectors in Asia.
The summit aims to highlight models of business collaborations in the EV Industry which have the investment potential of generating both profit and positive social impact. The sessions will also focus on investment opportunities in cross border business partnerships in clean technology.
Sessions include the following topics:
- Challenges to Philippine Public Road Transport Modernization and the Role of Electric Vehicles
- Global Electric Vehicle Initiatives and Lessons Learned (Best Practices)
- Financing Electric Vehicle Projects
- EV Business Plans and Investment Pitches
EVAP has embarked on a program that brings together manufacturers, assemblers, suppliers, importers, dealers, fleet operators and battery makers to collaborate in providing complete electric vehicle solutions.
In speaking about his advocacy to promote clean technology, Juan explains "Ours was borne out of the deep, genuine desire to help address the worsening environmental pollution in our country particularly in the transport sector. Our transport industry is woefully dependent on fossil fuel particularly our jeepneys - the world-renowned iconic public transport system which feeds entirely on diesel. This alarming condition was our bugle call for the development and launch of a new transport alternative - the electric jeepney or eJeepney for short."
