Manila, Philippines – CEIBS and Asia Society Philippine Foundation, Inc. hosted a private luncheon last August 10, 2012 featuring China Europe International Business School's Vice President and Dean John Quelch, who shared his insights and expertise on “Doing Business in China.” The invitation-only luncheon was held at Peking Garden, Greenbelt 5, Makati City. Prominent businessmen and executives listened to Dean Quelch discuss and expound his views on:
- Chinese-Philippine business relations;
- Approaches of Chinese companies in penetrating international markets;
- How CEIBS can play a role in educating Philippine businessmen about their Chinese counterparts; and
- How CEIBS can facilitate business ties between China and the Philippines
Despite the torrential rains and floods that caused mayhem in Manila earlier in the week, the luncheon was well attended, with close to 40 top Philippine executives and businessmen in the audience. Mr. Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala “JAZA”, Chairman & CEO of Ayala Corporation (one of the oldest and largest business groups in the Philippines) and Vice Chair of Asia Society Philippine Foundation Inc., was one of the first guests to arrive at the luncheon to greet and welcome Dean Quelch. Other notable guests and personalities who were present at the luncheon were:
- Mr. Oscar Reyes, President & CEO, Meralco (the country’s largest electric utility company)
- Mr. Jesus Francisco, President, Miescor (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Meralco specialising in industrial engineering services)
- Mr. Roberto Dispo, President, First Metro Investment Corporation (investment banking arm of the Metrobank Group, one of the largest banks in the country)
- Ms. Doris Magsaysay-Ho, Chair, Asia Society Philippines Foundation Inc.
- Ms. Suyin Liu-Lee, Executive Director, Asia Society Philippines Foundation, Inc.
CEIBS and Asia Society would like to thank First Metro Investment Corporation (Presenter) and Oishi (Supporter) for their generous financial support of the luncheon.
