Asia On Screen 2016 Press Screening
The Asia on Screen Press Conference was held last Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Greenbelt 3 myCinema. The ocassion was opened by Asia Society Executive Director, Suyin Liu Lee, and newly appointed Film Development Council of the Philippines Chair, Liza Dino. Director Pepe Diokno also graced the event.
The press were treated to a screening of A Tale of Three Cities by notable director Mabel Chung. It is the story of Yuerong is a young widow who is forced to peddle opium in order to support her two little daughters. Daolong is a handsome officer at a river checkpoint. When Daolong becomes the target of both the Nationalists and the Communists, the couple is forced to escape across a country devastated by famine and war. The film was inspired by the true to life love story of actor Jackie Chan's parents. The film was featured at the Toronto International Film Festival.
