Scaling the Grape Wall: Exporting California Wines to China

In Europe, the Americas and elsewhere, California's wines have earned their reputation as equal to or in some cases exceeding the quality of old world wines. But in China, where the wine market is much newer, French wines are still held in higher esteem than those originating in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. With the market for wine among Chinese consumers growing exponentially in recent years, California's wine professionals should not lose out on this burgeoning market.

Join Asia Society Northern California as we look at where California stands in China’s wine market, what challenges are faced by wine exporters and what can be done to improve California wines' market share over longer-established players like the French or geographically advantaged ones such as those Australia and New Zealand.

Following the panel we will host a wine reception featuring selections from our panelists' cellars.
