Mandarin Language Program
VIEW EVENT DETAILSThe Winter 2011 Asia Society Beginning Mandarin Class will be held at the Asia Society office on 12 Mondays, beginning on January 10th, and concluding March 28th.
The focus will be on Mandarin Chinese, with a strong emphasis on conversational, practical Chinese and reading pinyin (Chinese phonetic system). Each student will be evaluated by the instructor to determine the focus and pace of the class, and class activities will be led by an instructor and teaching assistant.

Instructor: Ms. Brigid Vance
Brigid is exceptionally accomplished in the field of East Asian Studies; she has completed post-graduate studies at several prestigious universities, and has worked and studied in Asia for over four years. While living in China for over two years, Brigid worked as a teacher and translator, and completed several rigorous Chinese language programs. In addition to her extensive knowledge of Chinese history and culture, Brigid has a wealth of teaching experience, having served as a collegiate Chinese teaching assistant and elementary school Chinese substitute teacher. In addition, she taught ESL for many years, during which she helped to found an English language school in Beijing. In addition to her wealth of knowledge and Chinese language expertise, Brigid is an engaging, creative teacher.
