Imagine 2060: Delivering Tomorrow's Cities TogetherVIEW EVENT DETAILS
The 5th Annual PCSI Forum
The Los Angeles metropolitan region, which is comprised of five adjoining counties, is the second largest city by population in the United States and is one of the world’s largest urban centers. It is a critically important financial, commercial, industrial and cultural center in the U.S, and in the world, and Los Angeles is experiencing a new population explosion as more and more people are being drawn to the city for its economic and cultural opportunities. The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as Los Angeles International Airport, also act as a channel for most of the international trade goods moving to and from the U.S., especially from Asia.
As Los Angeles continues to grow, the city is facing new opportunities and challenges to secure a sustainable and environmentally friendly urban future. In the past decade, the city has undergone a profound transformation in improving accessibility, air quality, and mobility for all. Their commitment to redesigning the urban landscape while investing in technology and transportation has made them the powerhouse of future cities.
This year’s Forum is organized in association with Imagine 2060: Delivering Tomorrow’s Cities Together and will examine Los Angeles’ place among the world’s great megacities as an economic and cultural hub, in particular its role as a waterfront city, and how cities in Asia can provide new, innovative ideas for Los Angeles in the coming decades. Imagine 2060 is an original 3-year global discourse series co-organized by Asia Society and AECOM, aimed at inspiring a whole new way of delivering the cities of tomorrow.
The Pacific Cities Sustainability Initiative (PCSI) Annual Forum brings urban sustainability leaders from around the U.S., Asia-Pacific region, and the globe for high-level interactive and engaging dialogues to share best practices and explore promising new approaches to developing cities that are livable, innovative, and vibrant. The Forum is a unique opportunity to think critically, ask questions, share tools, identify new solutions, examine best practices, and build long lasting partnerships. Focused on action-oriented exchanges of insights and lessons through keynotes, panel discussions, TedX-style talks, mini debates, and interactive problem-solving workshops, participants are drawn from experts working in urban planning, civil society, the private sector, academia, government, and international agencies.
