Filipino Flavors: Tradition & Innovation

Filipino Flavors: Tradition & Innovation

The Asian Culinary Forum, Art Institute of California, and the Asia Society invite anyone interested in learning more about Filipino flavors to join us for an exciting, weekend-long celebration of the foods of the Philippines. With a lineup of special panel discussions with scholars and chefs, food tastings, wine pairings, cook-offs, hands-on classes, and plenty of delicious food and beautiful music, the symposium has something for everyone. Come learn, share, eat, and enjoy the many wonderful contributions of this food-loving community.

Set in downtown San Francisco at the International Culinary School, the weekend's lively line-up of events includes:

* a unique master cooking class
* a revelatory food & wine pairing
* provocative chefs' and scholars' panels
* a literary reading of poetry and prose
* live music
* and, yes, a decisive adobo throw-down!

Participants include, among many others, chef Tim Luym, formerly of Poleng Lounge in San Francisco, chef Kelly Degala of Va de Vi in Walnut Creek, chef Geomel Santos of Bistro Luneta in San Mateo, food writer and restauranteur Amy Besa of Purple Yam in New York, Manila restaurant superstar and Kulinarya co-author Margarita Fores, Master Sommelier Reggie Narito, and poet Barbara Jane Reyes.
