Join ASNC and the Asia Foundation for a discussion with Timothy Rub, The George D. Widener Director and CEO of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Mr. Rub is the recipient of the Asia Foundation's Margaret F. Williams Memorial Fellowship in Asian Art. He will talk about recent meetings, during his fellowship, with representatives of major museums in China, Japan and Korea to discuss cooperative exhibitions and exchanges with the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
A specialist in architecture and modern art who became director of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2009, Mr. Rub is presently engaged in a ten-year, $500 million dollar expansion and renovation of the Museum’s 1928 landmark main building with architect Frank O. Gehry. Prior to his arrival at PMA, he served as director of the Hood Museum of Art, the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Established by Asia Foundation President Emeritus Haydn Williams, the fellowship honors his late wife and is administered in cooperation with the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
