Since 2010, Cui Tiankai has been Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where his responsibilities include North America and Oceania, G20, Treaty and Law, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan-related foreign affairs. Prior to his current position, Mr. Cui was China's Ambassador to Japan. During his diplomatic career, Mr. Cui has served as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director-General of the Asian Affairs Department, Director-General of the Policy Research Office, Minister Counselor at the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Cui studied at Shanghai Normal University, Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages and Johns Hopkins University.
