Shanghai Expo: An Insider's View
VIEW EVENT DETAILSThe Shanghai Expo, currently taking place in China, is on track to be the largest World's Fair in history.
Over 70 million people, mostly Chinese, are expected to attend the event, which features showcases from 189 countries, over 50 international organizations and numerous multinational companies.
What does all this mean for China, the US, and your company? Please join the Asia Society for a conversation with Frank Lavin, the Chairman of the USA Pavilion's Steering Committee, who'll share his candid views about the event, the USA Pavilion and the opportunities they present.
In his professional life, Lavin serves as Chairman of the Public Affairs Practice for Edelman Asia Pacific, the world's largest independent public relations firm. As Chairman, Lavin works with companies across the region as they grapple with regulatory challenges and sensitive government relations issues. Previously, he was Under Secretary for International Trade at the US Department of Commerce. In that role, he served as lead trade negotiator for both China and India and was responsible for commercial policy, export promotion, and trade negotiations across the globe. Additionally, Lavin was US Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore from 2001-05, where he helped negotiate the landmark US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. A native of Canton, Ohio, Lavin resides in Hong Kong.
Lavin's new book, The USA Pavilion Expo 2010 Shanghai: Rising to the Challenge, which captures all the experiences inside America's great hall, will also be available for purchase at the event.
Please note: this event will also be a free live video webcast on AsiaSociety.org/Live from 6:30 to 8:00 pm ET on Thursday, August 25. Online viewers are encouraged to submit questions to [email protected].
