Hong Kong Lyric: Ink Paintings by Raymond Fung
VIEW EVENT DETAILSA Guided Tour with Raymond Fung, Architect and Artist
Renowned architect, designer, and ink-painter Raymond Fung has made major contributions to art and social development in Hong Kong through both his architectural designs and devotion to contemporary ink painting. Fung began painting when he was young. After receiving his professional degree in architecture from Louisiana State University, he continued his art studies at the extra-mural programs of the University of Hong Kong. Combining traditional ink painting with a Western approach to color and composition, his work depicts the most natural faces of Hong Kong scenery. His training as an architect and interest in the visual environment inspire his lyrical composition and brushwork. Fung has participated in over 70 major exhibitions and received numerous awards, including the "Ten Outstanding Young Persons" award, Urban Land Institute Global Award, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Award, and the National Art Exhibitions and Vermont Studio Fellowship. He is currently Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Fung has also co-authored The Story of Space, A Century of HK Architecture, In Love with Architecture, and the upcoming In Search of HK Art. This exhibition features over 20 of his paintings, mostly on the landscapes of Hong Kong.
