Videos: India and the United States, Partners in Progress

Last week, Asia Society brought together thought leaders from India and the United States to discuss areas of partnership for the two nations during the Global Business Forum presented by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the International Indian Film Academy (IFFA), and the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI). Topics covered in the panels included economics, security, manufacturing, innovation, media, and more.

Sabbas Joseph, director of Wizcraft International Entertainment, Shiv Khemka, vice chairman of Sun Group, Kevin Rudd, president of the Asia Society Policy Institute, Riva Ganguly Das, consul general of India in the United States, Tom Vajda, acting deputy assistant secretary of state for South Asia, and Anil Agarwal, executive chairman of Vendata Resources, discuss the commonalities that India and the U.S. share and the necessary steps that India needs to take in order to continue its economic growth. 
 

Nisha Bishwal, senior advisor of Albright Stonebridge, Marshall M. Bouton, senior fellow for India at the Asia Society Policy Institute, Joel Hellman, dean of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Amita Poole, CEO of IIPL USA LLC., and Sunil Sanghai, managing director and head of investment banking at HSBC India, discuss the opportunities and challenges that come with the economic relationship between India and the United States. The conversation was moderated by Mukesh Aghi.
 

A panel of experts discuss the active and successful defense, trade, and security partnership between India and the United States. Speakers include Cara Abercrombie, deputy assistant secretary of defense for South and Southeast Asia, Srinivas Pulikam, CEO of Axiscades, Inc., and Mark Lippert, vice president of international government affairs at Boeing International. The conversation was moderated by Amber Dubey, partner and head of aerospace and defense at KPMG India.
 

Manufacturing executives discuss the current state of the industry in India. Speakers included Randhir Singh Kalsi, executive director of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Shiv Siddhant Kaul, managing director, Nicco Engineering Services Ltd., Ashish Saraf, joint managing director at Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd., and Madhu Vuppuluri, president and CEO of Essar Capital Ltd. The conversation was moderated by Keith Updike, director at KPMG.
 

Silicon Valley entrepreneurs discuss how innovation and entrepreneurship are transforming commerce in India. Panelists included Anita Dongre, chief creative officer at House of Anita Dongre, Shiv Khemka, vice chairman of Sun Goup, Hari Ravichandran, founder and CEO of Endurance International Group, Sunil Wadhwani, founder donor of the WISH Foundation, and venture capitalist Sheel Tyle. The conversation was moderated by Indiaspora Founder M. R. Rangaswami
 

Indian film actress, entrepreneur, and global women's advocate Preity Zinta discusses women’s safety in India with Sudhanshu Vats, group CEO of Viacom 18. 
 

Media experts discuss India’s growing entertainment industry and the challenges it faces to keep up with modern digital trends. Speakers include film director Vishesh Bhatt, First Deputy Commissioner for the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Kai Falkenberg, senior partner at ALMT Legal Partners Hitesh Jain, filmmaker Kabir Khan, and business head and CRO of Eros Group Zulfiqar Khan. The conversation was moderated by Mukul Srivastava, a partner at Ernst & Young.
