On Thursday, award-winning journalist and author Ian Johnson discussed The Souls of China: The Return of Religion After Mao, his recently published book on China's massive spiritual revival. In a conversation with the journalist and Bard College professor Ian Buruma, Johnson described his unconventional, decade-long research of China's religious communities and explored the relationship between contemporary faith and the Chinese Communist Party.
