Uli Sigg Talks Modern Chinese Art
Former Swiss ambassador to China Uli Sigg is regarded as one of the most influential collectors of Chinese contemporary art and an early supporter of many Chinese artists during the country’s post-1979 reform period. He is subject of the 2016 documentary The Chinese Lives of Uli Sigg, which was recently screened at Asia Society in New York. Following the screening, Sigg spoke with Asia Society Museum Director Boon Hui Tan and Director of Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations Orville Schell about contemporary Chinese artists and how the art scene has evolved since he began going to China in the 1970s. The discussion can be viewed in the above video.
