NEW YORK, February 20, 2014 — Beginning Wednesday, February 19, monks from the Drigung (Drikung) Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism have been creating a sand mandala in conjunction with Asia Society's latest exhibition Golden Visions of Densatil: A Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. The mandala sand painting, a sacred cosmogram representing the world in perfect harmony, will be completed on Sunday, February 23. To create the mandala, the monks have drawn a formal pattern on the base, and are now placing millions of grains of brightly colored sand to complete it.

Visit Asia Society New York for a rare opportunity to see this artwork being created. Share your photos with us on social media using @AsiaSociety and the hashtag #Densatil for a chance to be featured on our website.
