Join leading Indian architect and scholar Rahul Mehrotra for a discussion on the direction which contemporary Indian architecture is taking at a time when the Indian economy and middle classes are growing in size and influence. His most recent book is Architecture in India 1990-2010, an insightful study of contemporary architecture in India during a period of liberalization of the country’s economy.
Mehrotra is a practicing architect, urban designer and educator who divides his time between working in Mumbai and teaching in Boston, where he is Professor and Chair at the Department of Urban Planning and Design, Graduate School of Design, Harvard University. Mehrotra’s firm, RMA Architects, has been involved in conservation and master planning projects in the city of Mumbai. He has written and lectured extensively on architecture, conservation and urban planning. One of his most influential publications is Conserving an Image Centre: The Fort Precinct in Bombay, which led to the historic Fort area's being declared a conservation precinct in 1995.
