MacArthur Fellow Sarah Sze and Pulitzer-prize-winner Siddhartha Mukherjee are an exceptional couple who have both pursued their professional and creative passions to the top of their respective fields in Art and Science. This evening they are joined by Vishakha N. Desai, President, Asia Society for a wide-ranging and insightful discussion on the creative process.

Sarah Sze was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Chinese and American parents. She was awarded a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and later a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Since the late 1990s she has shown her work in numerous international exhibitions in Kanazawa, Lyon, Venice, Melbourne, and Turin. Her notable solo exhibitions and projects include installations at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2003, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2002, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago in 1999. She is a 2003 MacArthur Fellow. It was recently announced that Sze has been chosen to represent the USA at the 2013 Venice Biennale. For details click here.
Siddhartha Mukherjee is a physician and researcher. His book The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in general non-fiction. Mukherjee is an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University and a staff cancer physician at Columbia University Medical Center. A Rhodes Scholar, he graduated from Stanford University, University of Oxford, and Harvard Medical School. He has published articles in Nature, The New England Journal of Medicine, The New York Times, and The New Republic.
In conjunction with the exhibition Sarah Sze: Infinite Line on view at Asia Society through March 25. The exhibition will remain open until 9:00 p.m. on March 14 and admission is complimentary for program attendees.
President's Forum is a series of programs in which Asia Society President Vishakha N. Desai interviews prominent guests on a broad range of Asian and Asian American topics, including politics, economics, culture, and the media. Past guests have included Maya Lin, Mira Nair, Joseph E. Stiglitz, Tan Dun, Julie Taymor, Thich Nhat Hanh, and past U.S. Ambassadors to the UN Bill Richardson and the late Richard Holbrooke.
