Malavika Sarukkai-Bharata Natyam
VIEW EVENT DETAILSConceptualized and choreographed by Malavika Sarukkai, "Ganga" traverses physical terrain and metaphysical spaces. She is at once the mythic river emerging from Siva's matted locks as well as the river of life coursing through the plains of India. She is the Eternal River'the river of Deep Time Mahakal'a witness to the relentless cycle of birth and death, to the sacred and profane, to purity and pollution.
And now, in our times, she laments. As Ganga journeys she meets other rivers, gathering their flows within her in confluences as in the sangam at Devprayag. Until she surrenders her identity to the ocean and merges with it, reflecting a profound philosophical truth of Advaita.
