Gensler's Shanghai Tower: Design Development of China's Tallest Tower.
VIEW EVENT DETAILSWith the municipal government as a client partner, the 632-meter Shanghai Tower clearly asserts the city's ambitions and commitment to high-rise urbanism. Gensler won a competition for the super-tall program with a spiraling form and double-skin facade that emphasizes sustainable values, which will top the adjacent SWFC by more than 400 feet, and is planned for completion in 2014. Speakers: Jun Xia, Regional Design Director, Gensler (Shanghai) and Dennis Poon, P.E. Managing Principal, Thornton Tomasetti. This event is part of a city-wide lecture series, "Shanghai Skyline," presented in conjunction with the Sky scraper Museum's exhibition China Prophecy. This series explores in depth--and height--the sensational growth of Shanghai's skyline over the past three decades.
