The Future of U.S.-India Relations with Ambassador Meera Shankar, Indian Ambassador to the United States
With Ambassador Meera Shankar, Indian Ambassador to the United States
As the Obama Administration enters its second year, domestic concerns dominate news headlines. President Obama's 'new era in U.S. foreign relations" is perceived to have slipped down the list of policy priorities. Although the President made some progress dismissing these notions when he became the first sitting U.S. President to preside over a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on September 24 and when he announced the deployment of an additional 30,000 soldiers to Afghanistan on December 1, how much progress did these actions make? How does India view U.S. policy in Afghanistan and Pakistan? How does New Delhi view Washington's climate change policy and its leadership of international organizations?

Please join us as Ambassador Shankar shares her views on these and other important issues in the U.S.-India relationship with Vishakha N. Desai, President, Asia Society. A light lunch will be served.
