US-South Korea Trade Pact A Model for Ties With Asia
“The agreement between the United States and South Korea of a long-negotiated free trade agreement is an unambiguous win for both countries economically and strategically. Legislatures of both countries should approve this deal, as negotiated, as quickly as possible,” says Asia Society Executive Vice President Jamie Metzl. “This agreement not only represents a critical step forward in U.S.-Korea relations, but also creates a model for a series of bilateral free trade agreements between the United States and other countries that will likely follow."
Jamie, who is based in New York, was project coordinator for Asia Society’s latest task force report, calling for greater economic cooperation in the face of rising protectionism and nationalism.
