Filipino puppeteer part of the 2011 Asean Puppetry Festival
The ASEAN Puppetry Festival was held last November 1 to November 3, 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Representatives from puppetry associations and troops participated in the event and showcased various forms of puppetry -- ventriloquism, marionette artistry and shadow puppetry.
Philippine's sole representative to the Festival and 'Talentadong Pinoy' champion Wanlu said in his interview with The Philippine Daily Inquirer that his goal in participating this year was to "show that our country not only produces first-rate puppets, but also first-rate puppeteers" and to "learn other forms of puppetry (from our Asian neighbors)."
Wanlu was invited to the Festival by Mr. Danny Liwanag, head of the Samahan ng Papetirs ng Pilipinas (SSP) and Roppets Puppet Troop.
