Rendezvous with the Artist: CAMP
VIEW EVENT DETAILSJoin Asia Society for the final edition of the "Rendezvous with the Artist" series of studio visits, to immerse yourself in the artistic practice of Skoda Prize finalists Ashok Sukumaran and Shaina Anand and other members of their collaborative studio, CAMP. These artists have participated in prestigious international art exhibitions and film festivals, including Documenta, as well as the last three Sharjah Biennials. They are co-initiators of the online video archive http://Pad.ma and the new cinema archive http://indiancine.ma.
The presentation will take place outdoors just after sunset on the CAMP studio rooftop in Chuim Village, on the edge of Bandra. Come see for yourself how electricity, CCTV, boats and the Internet become mediums and art forms.
About CAMP:
CAMP is a collaborative studio founded in Mumbai in 2007 by Shaina Anand, Ashok Sukumaran and others. Anand studied history, and then film and media arts; Sukumaran studied architecture and new media art. Their interests intersect and diverge, almost always exploding beyond traditional artistic boundaries. They are aesthetically sensitive polymaths, with expertise spanning from communications technology to documentary filmmaking, and a commitment to localised political action and social practice. Common threads of ethics, community-building, and technological innovation are woven through everything they produce.
The Rendezvous with the Artist series presents leading artists in the privacy of their own studios for an intimate discussion about their work, inspirations, processes and current projects. Other artists we have visited under this series include Shilpa Gupta, Atul Dodiya, Sudarshan Shetty and Reena Kallat.
