Rama and the Demon King: An Ancient Tale from India

VIEW EVENT DETAILS

Bring your family for a fanciful afternoon of travel through Asia via the gift of storytelling. The Adventures of Asia series presents folk tales from around the Asian region meant to capture the imagination, instill a love of reading and inspire a thirst for knowledge.

Explore the story of the epic Ramayana in celebration of Diwali. The Ramayana recounts how prince Ram, with the help of Hanuman and his loyal monkey army, wins the battle against the ten-headed demon king Ravana to rescue his beloved Sita from her imprisonment on Lanka and then returns to claim the throne of his kingdom, Ayodhya. The story and the interactive activity that will follow aspire to convey the exuberance of a millennia-old tale which is still very much alive today.

For readers aged 5-8.

Rama and the Demon King is written by Jessica Souhami.
The reading and activity will be conducted by Sangeeta Choksi.
