Meet the New US Ambassador to India in Mumbai

Richard Verma is the newly appointed United States Ambassador to India. Ambassador Verma is a former Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs. From 2009-2011, he served as a principal advisor to Secretary Clinton, led the State Department’s budget and policy efforts on Capitol Hill, and handled more than 200 Senate confirmations. Formerly a country director for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Eastern Europe, Verma was a senior National Security Fellow at the Center for American Progress, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and served on the boards of the Clinton Foundation, Human Rights First, and the National Democratic Institute. Verma served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1994 to 1998. He received his LL.M. with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center.
Pramit Jhaveri is the CEO of Citi India. Pramit joined Citi India in 1987 and his 28 years of banking experience spans across multiple areas of the industry. Under Pramit's leadership, Citi India has won a number of awards. Among the awards received in 2014 are Best Bank, Best Foreign Investment Bank and Best Equity House from The Asset, Best Bank and Best Investment Bank from Euromoney, Best Foreign Investment Bank and Best Foreign Commercial Bank from Finance Asia and Best Consumer Internet Bank from Global Finance.
Pramit is on the Managing Committee of the Indian Banks Association and a Director on the Board of the Pratham Education Foundation. He is also on the IndiaBuilds Advisory Committee of Habitat for Humanity, the India Advisory Council of American India Foundation, the Advisory Board of Catalyst India and the Board of Trustees of India Foundation for the Arts.
Pramit holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Sydenham College, Mumbai, and an MBA in Finance and Economics from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester, USA.
