Skill Gap Issues in the "ASEAN Five"
J.P. Morgan - Asia Society One Step Ahead Series
SINGAPORE, 13th November, 2015 - After addressing the employment challenges in China earlier this May, the "Asia Society One Step Ahead Series" November symposium focused on the study of workforce readiness in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) community, with a particular emphasis on the "ASEAN Five"- Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Supported by J.P. Morgan, Singapore Business Federation and Singapore Management University, the half-day symposium was attended by over 200 guests. Regional business leaders, NGO leaders, government officials and academics shared insights on the skill gap issues within the ASEAN Five and explored the possibility of universal primary education and vocational training being solutions to the challenge.
