Grand Opening of Bat Cave Exhibition Unveils Rare Collection of Chinese Works of Art

HONG KONG, 15 September 2015 - Over 200 distinguished guests from local and international organisations visited Asia Society Hong Kong on the evening of September 15, 2015, to celebrate the opening of Asia Society Hong Kong’s new exhibition Bat cave: Treasures of the Day and Creatures of the Night. The much-awaited gala event – which featured the lighting up of a bat motif sign to signify the official opening of the exhibition, speeches by Mr. Ronnie C. Chan (Co-chairman of Asia Society; Chairman of Asia Society Hong Kong Center), Ms. Alice S. Mong (Executive Director of Asia Society Hong Kong Center), who then joined by Dr. Josh Yiu (Acting Director of Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong), Dr. Xu Xiaodong (Associate Director of Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong), Dr. Raymond Tang Man-Leung (Curator of Museum of Art, Chinese Antiquities) and Mr. Alan Lo (Director of MK Lau Foundation Limited) for a toast to round off the event – marked the start of the exhibition which brings together Ming and Qing dynasty bat-themed antiques, and which has also seen the Chantal Miller Gallery turned into a bat cave.
Asia Society Hong Kong Center in collaboration with the Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, have brought this exhibition to the Hong Kong public. “Bat Cave” will be on view from September 16, 2015 to January 03, 2016. The curator is Dr. Xu Xiaodong, the Associate Director of the Art Museum, and the Associate Professor (by courtesy) of the Fine Arts Department, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Assistant Curator is On-tsun Andrew Fung from the Gallery Team of Asia Society Hong Kong Center.
