The future relationship between China and the United States will be one of the defining trends in the 21st century. The two nations will either steer toward a common narrative of mutual benefit or drift into conflict. Meanwhile, as President Barack Obama nears completion of his second term in office, all eyes are on the 2016 presidential election and how the bilateral relationship will be managed. Justin Vogt, Deputy Managing Editor of Foreign Affairs and Tom Nagorski, Executive Vice President of the Asia Society, will have just completed a week-long trip to China with a delegation of US journalists. Join them for a wide-ranging dialogue on some of the reflections of their week there. What impressions did the visit to China leave? What thoughts or preconceptions on China were confirmed, rebutted or tweaked? As the US gears up towards presidential elections next year, how does China feature in US politics and how do candidates view the US-China relationship?
