Animamix Drawing Workshop
Registration: 12:45pm
Workshop: 1:00pm — 3:00pm
This workshop is conducted in English and is suitable for participants aged 16 or above.
Influenced by his exposure to television cartoons, Eddie Kang combines nostalgia, distinct outlines and bright colors to reminisce and reflect on a wide spectrum of emotional experiences. The playful aesthetic of his animated characters appeals to childhood yearnings for simplicity and fantasy, while existing in a complex metropolitan landscape.
In this interactive and engaging workshop inspired by the creative visuals of Big City Life, Eddie Kang’s first outdoor sculpture on show at Asia Society Hong Kong Center, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to draw in the "animamix" style used by the artist. This workshop will be led by Eddie Kang and will encourage participants to approach art in the same dynamic and fun-filled spirit that characterizes his work.
Eddie Kang was born and raised in Seoul. He studied in the U.S. Rhode Island School of Design with a focus on film, animation, and video. His work often presents a combination of paintings, sculpture, video, and toys. Kang has presented exhibitions internationally in Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo and New York. Kang is a fellow of Asia Society’s Asia 21 Korea Chapter (K21), a network that aims to recognize young talents and promote leadership across the Asia-Pacific.
