Dead Sea Scrolls: A Window into Judeo-Christian Traditions
HONG KONG, January 20, 2015 — From this in-depth evening presentation, Professor Archie C.C. Lee, a Distinguished Professor at Shandong University, gives a talk on the historical significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls. According to Lee, looking at the Scrolls not only help historians decipher the undiscovered lives of the Judeo-Christians in Jerusalem, its sheer quantity also helps provide insight to the different interpretations of the same biblical texts by comparing various existing versions.
Although Lee maintained that the texts share 99% similarity, he reinforces that scholars “are interested in the 1% that is different”, as this “1%” may shed light on styles of interpretation; ways of passing knowledge and even its authorship. The event ended with an engaging Q&A session and a big round of applause from the delighted audience.
