Cool Monday
HONG KONG, January 23, 2017 — Almost 100 people came to our first Cool Monday event in 2017, and enjoyed a relaxing evening of networking and art appreciation. Participants were given docent-led tours of our current exhibition, Roaring Guardians: The Mari-Cha Lion with Asian Traditional and Contemporary Art. Generously sponsored by The Mari-Cha Collection Ltd., the exhibition explores the religious, imperial and vernacular significance of the lion symbol by presenting the remarkable Mari-Cha Lion, a rare mid-11th to mid-12th century South Italian bronze sculpture bearing Arabic decorations, alongside a selection of Asian objects from the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection, local museums and other private collections. Aside from art appreciation, the participants also enjoyed a preview of the upcoming concert by the Hong Kong Youth Choir (HKYC). Lucky draw winners walked away with various prizes, including copies of Heritage Revealed, the Mari-Cha Lion umbrellas and dining vouchers from the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
Our next networking cocktail will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017; please mark it down on your calendar and save the date!
