Panelist: Eileen Simon, Group Executive, Senior Associate General Counsel for MasterCard Worldwide
As a Group Executive, Senior Associate General Counsel at MasterCard Worldwide, Eileen Simon is responsible for providing legal support to the MasterCard Global Products and Solutions division as well as its Global Technology Organization. In this capacity, her team provides support to the Core Products, Innovative Platforms, Global Marketing and Advisors units, as well as its technology and intellectual property areas. Ms. Simon also oversees legal support of the Payment System Integrity function, the Franchise Development function, and Corporate Services.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Simon’s responsibilities included management of the defense of complex commercial litigation for MasterCard. Previously, she also managed legal support for the Commerce Development and Enterprise Risk Management areas. Ms. Simon also oversaw management of the compliance function, including anti-money laundering, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control and privacy matters, and supervised investigations of fraud and misconduct.
Ms. Simon is a member of MasterCard’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Council and the Multicultural Initiative Steering Committee. In addition, Ms. Simon serves on the Steering Committee of the MasterCard’s Executive Women’s Initiative and since 2010 has been the Executive Sponsor of the global Women’s Leadership Network.
Before joining MasterCard in June of 1999, Ms. Simon practiced law at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in New York City, where she concentrated in antitrust law and litigation.
Ms. Simon is on the Board of Directors of the Westchester/Fairfield Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel and previously co-chaired its Antitrust and Trade Regulation Committee. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Antitrust Section, and was named a “Super Lawyer” in 2007.
Ms. Simon graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was elected to Order of Barristers and served on the Executive Board of Moot Court. Ms. Simon is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut.
